Rabbit Harvesting

A recent study published in the journal of environmental psychology, found that a disturbing portion of children between ages 4–7 don’t know where their food comes from.

The authors say their data demonstrates that about 40% of kids think bacon, hotdogs, and chicken nuggets come from plants.

I recently joined Beka and her partner Gray, along with a community of families and educators on what I believe to be one of the most important experiences a child can have. They were shown the truth of where their food comes from and the beauty and balance of the cycle of life through a rabbit harvesting workshop.

Coming into the workshop, I was a bit worried how I would handle the day let alone the kids running around the garden ranging from ages 2–7. My biggest take away from the experience is how every child there understood the importance of the situation. They gave it time, respect, and grace to a level that blew me away.

It was an important and beautiful day for everyone
